Thank you for your interest in this Public Service Announcement. This project sprung from a discussion several months ago between a group of concerned citizens from very different backgrounds and beliefs, but with one common, simple goal: To raise awareness about Climate Change and the Climate Crisis, and to educate people who LOVE Fishing, Hiking and Hunting about the wide range of things they can do about it. We feel that this climate crisis affects the things we love to do with our families outdoors, and we are sure you can agree that this is bigger than politics.
With that mission, we’ve created an animation and a website with our own time, energy and funds, with the intention of providing you with as many resources as we could gather. Participants in our project includes the artist Jeffrey Wiener and his staff at Young Mind Interactive, a design company that specializes in educational projects. But the Inspiration, guidance and initial funding were provided by local members of the group Extinction Rebellion out of the Mid-Hudson New York region, and you can connect with them on Facebook here.
We have in common that we live in the beautiful Catskills Mountains to the northwest of New York, a very large, mostly natural area that has been managed and preserved for over 100 years for outdoor enthusiasts, and those who enjoy fishing and hunting. New York City’s drinking water comes from our clean lakes and reservoirs. Here, many farmers have managed their lands for several generations, providing food for the region since the founding of our country. We are neighbors, and we have seen the Climate Crisis take its toll on our land, our rivers and streams, and on the health of our forests. You have seen it in other parts of the United States as well.
In any case, this was something we felt would be effective, and if you’ve read up to here, we’ve done a good job.
